The incident prompted local authorities to launch an investigation, and just two days later, on February 8, the vehicle was located in the vicinity of Vecsaliena parish. Local residents played a crucial role in assisting law enforcement by identifying a potential suspect, a 1985-born man, leading to his apprehension and the establishment of a criminal case by the State Police of Latvia under Section 175 of the Criminal Code regarding vehicle theft.
