The architecture competition for the extension of the Pärnu beach building won by the work of Kamp Architects
The architecture competition for the extension of the Pärnu beach building has been won by Kamp Architects' project 'Alt Pernau', which seeks to preserve the architectural essence of the original designer.
The architecture competition for the renovation and extension of the Pärnu beach building concluded with Kamp Architects winning the prize with their project titled 'Alt Pernau'. This design aims to continue the architectural beauty established by the original architect, Olev Siinmaa. The developer has indicated that the winning design is both achievable and that construction could commence in the coming years, highlighting a positive outlook for the redevelopment of this local landmark.
Transcom, the owner of the Pärnu beach building, intends to demolish adjacent sales pavilions and replace them with a spa hotel as part of the larger renovation effort. In addition to the beach building itself being renovated, the plans include the installation of restaurants and a reception area for the hotel, which would enhance the amenities available in this popular coastal area. The project exemplifies a commitment to modernize the facilities while respecting the architectural heritage of the locale.
The architecture competition attracted 25 submissions, with the winning project crafted by Jan Skolimowski, Anton Andres, and Kaspar Kruuse. Skolimowski remarked on the goal of restoring the building as authentically as possible while ensuring that any new additions harmonize with the existing structure, ensuring the building contributes positively to Pärnu’s public space and quality of life. This project stands to not only enhance the aesthetic of Pärnu but also promote community engagement and tourism in the region.
