Seimas ethics guards: The Culture Committee meeting regarding LRT was organized properly

The Lithuanian Seimas' Ethics and Procedure Commission concluded that the Culture Committee meeting about LRT was held in compliance with all legal stipulations.

According to the conclusions of the Seimas Ethics and Procedure Commission (EPK), no violations of the Seimas Statute were found during the preparation and execution of the Culture Committee meeting regarding the Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT). During this meeting, findings from five previously initiated inquiries were presented, of which three did not indicate any violations concerning the organization of the meeting. Two inquiries were postponed for further discussion at a subsequent EPK meeting.

In December, the ethics guards of the Seimas began investigations into six complaints linked to the possibly improper organization of Culture Committee meetings that dealt with proposed amendments to the LRT law. There were concerns surrounding the meeting held on December 15, where it was suggested that the Seimas Statute may have been violated during this extraordinary session of the Culture Committee.

The individuals who approached the commission were seeking to clarify whether the conduct of the session on December 15 adhered to the set regulations. The findings of the Commission affirm that proper procedures were followed, thereby maintaining transparency and accountability in the legislative process related to the discussions on LRT law amendments.
