Carnival 2026: intercity transport fleet will be expanded in Sergipe
The intercity transport fleet in Sergipe will increase from 591 to 613 buses to accommodate a significant surge in demand during the upcoming Carnival 2026 period.
The State Department of Road Infrastructure of Sergipe (DER/SE) has announced that it will increase the fleet of buses for intercity public transport between Friday, the 13th and Wednesday, the 18th. This increase comes in response to a surge in demand for services, which has grown between 50% and 75%. The additional 22 buses will be deployed to key areas, including Itabaiana, Lagarto, Estância, Propriá, Neópolis, and Canindé, where the demand is particularly high.
In an effort to manage the expected influx of travelers efficiently and to prevent long lines at terminals, the DER/SE is promoting the purchase of tickets in advance. Passengers can buy their tickets online, in addition to using physical ticket counters located at the Luiz Garcia (Old Bus Station) and José Rollemberg Leite (New Bus Station) terminals. This system supports travel from Aracaju to all municipalities within the state, with ticket prices starting at R$ 15.
This planned enhancement of the intercity transport fleet marks a significant logistical preparation ahead of Carnival 2026, which is a critical time for travel in Brazil, especially in regions popular for their festivities. By increasing bus availability and promoting advance ticket purchases, the state aims to facilitate smoother travel experiences for both locals and tourists during this peak period.
