Block 'Welcoming is Our Joy' will bring inclusion to Petrolina Carnival

The 'Welcoming is Our Joy' block will celebrate its fourth year at the Petrolina Carnival, promoting inclusion and joy for various vulnerable groups.

The 'Welcoming is Our Joy' block is set to take place on Friday, March 13, from 5 PM at Praça 21 de Setembro in Petrolina. This vibrant event is organized by the Social Assistance and Fight Against Hunger Secretariat of Petrolina and is anticipated to be full of colors, joy, and animation. The block will feature performances from a fanfare and the Encrespa band, setting an upbeat atmosphere for the attendees.

This year, the event will include participation from children and teenagers from shelter homes, elderly individuals, and people with disabilities or reduced mobility, alongside other communities served by the city's social assistance services, such as the Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS) and Community Living Centers. This initiative aims to enhance social ties among vulnerable populations while promoting their right to enjoy communal festivities like Carnival.

Since its inception in 2023, the block has been targeting inclusion for various groups, starting with elderly participants from the Community Living Center and subsequently expanding to include diverse groups supported by social assistance services. This expansion not only celebrates the spirit of Carnival but also emphasizes the importance of inclusivity and community bonding in fostering a sense of belonging among all participants, making Carnival a festive occasion for everyone in Petrolina.
