Rio Capivari overflows again and floods streets in Monte Mor

Heavy rains have caused the Rio Capivari to overflow in Monte Mor, São Paulo, leading to street flooding and displacing families.

Recent heavy rains in the region have resulted in the Rio Capivari overflowing in Monte Mor, São Paulo, measuring 2.42 meters, which is 42 centimeters above the flooding threshold according to the Civil Defense. The affected areas include the Chácaras Recreio Pindorama and Chácaras Recreio Planalto neighborhoods, with several roads reported as being flooded.

The Civil Defense reported that the highest rainfall accumulation recorded in the past 24 hours was 29.9 mm at the Santa Cruz Station. Authorities have advised residents to avoid flooded areas and rely on official channels in case of emergencies. On Tuesday, a flooding incident on Rua Tereza Lobo left nine individuals displaced, causing a precautionary evacuation; thankfully, no injuries were reported.

In response to the crisis, the Monte Mor City Hall has mobilized teams to distribute essential supplies, including food baskets, mattresses, and cleaning kits to families affected by the flooding. The Civil Defense continues to monitor the situation closely to provide further assistance where necessary, emphasizing the importance of community support during such emergency events.
