Will we 'hit the net' in Berlin as well? Latvian film professionals head to the Berlinale Film Festival

Latvian film industry professionals are set to participate in the Berlinale Film Festival and the European Film Market, which are vital for international collaboration.

This year's Berlinale Film Festival will take place from February 12 to 22, and it is recognized as one of the largest and most significant A-list film festivals worldwide. The event serves as an important platform for Latvian film professionals who attend annually to foster international cooperation within the film industry. The festival not only showcases films but also creates opportunities for valuable connections among industry stakeholders.

The European Film Market (EFM), a key forum for the film industry in Europe, allows filmmakers and industry professionals to attract international attention and collaborate on new and ongoing projects. Latvia will have a presence at the EFM alongside neighboring countries Lithuania and Estonia, with a stand organized by the National Film Centre of Latvia and the Latvian Producers Association. Located at the Gropius Bau, where the main activities take place, the stand has received financial support from the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA).

This year, the EFM will feature an international "market premiere" of the currently most popular Latvian feature film, indicating the growing recognition and potential of Latvian cinema on the world stage. The involvement of professionals at such a prestigious event highlights the ongoing efforts to engage with international filmmakers and strengthen Latvia's position in the global film industry.
