These staffed DNT cabins are now opening
Several staffed DNT cabins in Norway are set to open just in time for the winter school holidays.
As the winter school holiday approaches in Norway, several staffed cabins managed by the Norwegian Tourist Association (DNT) are now opening their doors. Key locations include Haukeliseter at Haukeli, Gjendesheim and Fondsbu in Jotunheimen, as well as Sota sæter in Breheimen and Gjevilvasshytta in Trollheimen. Other cabins like Finsehytta at Hardangervidda and the Kobberhaughytta in Oslomarka are also among the openings, offering outdoor enthusiasts a chance to enjoy the scenic winter landscape.
Inger Lise Blyverket, the Secretary General of DNT, remarked on the timely opening of these cabins, stating that there is ample space for guests during the upcoming holiday weeks. This initiative is aimed to cater to the increasing number of people looking to engage in winter sports and leisure activities, emphasizing the importance of outdoor experiences in Norway's culture.
The opening of these cabins not only promotes outdoor activities but also supports local tourism and the economy, especially during the winter season. With the DNT's efforts to provide well-maintained facilities in the wilderness, it encourages both locals and tourists to explore Norway's natural beauty, fostering a connection with nature and sustainable tourism practices.
