Akhilesh's Sharp Attack on UP Budget, Says 'This is a Farewell Budget, BJP's Exit is Certain'
Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Uttar Pradesh budget, labeling it as a farewell budget for the BJP and questioning the government's spending in crucial sectors.
In a press conference held in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav, the head of the Samajwadi Party, sharply criticized the Uttar Pradesh budget presented by the BJP. He claimed that the budget represents a farewell for the BJP and indicated that their departure from power is inevitable. Yadav raised concerns about the government's ability to effectively allocate funds, noting that despite an increase in the budget's overall size, essential sectors such as health and agriculture have not utilized even 60% of their allocated funds. He argued that the government lacks a concrete plan to address pressing issues like farmer incomes and unemployment.
Yadav pointed out that while the government boasts about economic growth, the reality is that it fails to spend even half of the allocated funds on essential programs. For instance, in key areas such as the agriculture sector, only 57% of the budget was utilized, with health and basic education sectors seeing similar underperformance at 58% and 62%, respectively. This raised the question of how the new, larger budget would benefit the public if previous allocations remained unspent.
He emphasized the need for significant economic growth to transform the state into a ₹90 lakh crore economy, which he deemed impossible under the current circumstances. The absence of vital support for MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) and agriculture further exacerbates the concerns, highlighting the government's lack of actionable solutions to bolster investment and job creation in the state, leaving many in doubt about the effectiveness of the current administration's fiscal policies.
