Goats Above, Chickens Below: Double Earnings from the Same Place, Technology Astonishes Everyone
A farmer in India leveraged technology to create a dual-income farm with goats and chickens, turning it into a center for agricultural research.
In a significant development for rural economies, farmer Naveen Raghuvanshi from the Chaurai development block has transformed goat farming into a high-tech industry under the National Livestock Mission (NLM). His farm in Bankanaganpur has become a model for the region, showcasing 175 advanced Sirohi goats and equipped with a quarantine shed for sick animals and a four-foot-high platform where the goats reside, while Kuroiler chickens are raised right beneath them, allowing for dual earnings from the same space. The total cost of the farm is approximately ₹1 crore, with the government providing a subsidy of ₹50 lakh.
In addition to the farm innovations, Naveen's son, Manthan Raghuvanshi, has made a name for himself as an 'Agri Influencer' by providing a digital platform for advanced agriculture practices. Through social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram, he is educating thousands of young farmers about modern agriculture and maize production. His impactful contributions earned him the title 'Agri Influencer of the Year 2026,' highlighting the growing intersection of technology and traditional farming methods.
This initiative not only strengthens the local economy but also serves as an inspiration for other farmers to explore modern agricultural techniques and integrate technology into their practices. The recognition of such efforts is crucial for promoting sustainable farming in rural India, which faces numerous challenges in productivity and economic viability.
