New guidelines issued for the national song 'Vande Mataram'
New guidelines mandate the playing of the national song 'Vande Mataram' at government programs and schools, along with compulsory standing in respect during its performance.
The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has issued new guidelines regarding the national song 'Vande Mataram', emphasizing its importance in official and formal gatherings, including government programs and educational institutions. According to the directives, the song must be played, and attendees are required to stand in respect during its rendition. Furthermore, when both the national song and the national anthem are played simultaneously, 'Vande Mataram' will be played first, followed by the national anthem.
In addition to the performance protocols, the new rules specify that the complete version of 'Vande Mataram', consisting of six paragraphs, should be played, taking approximately three minutes and ten seconds to complete. This initiative aims to instill a sense of patriotism and unity among citizens, especially in formal settings. The directive reinforces the government's commitment to promote patriotic values through the recognition and respect of national symbols.
These guidelines come as part of broader efforts to enhance patriotic sentiments in Indian society, following previous debates about the importance of national songs and anthems. By ensuring that 'Vande Mataram' is given its due respect and recognition, the government seeks to foster a culture that honors India's heritage and values national identity, reflecting a crucial aspect of contemporary Indian political and cultural discourse.
