A 40-year-old man was arrested in Thessaloniki for committing 11 burglaries, ten of which occurred in one night, after being caught by police while leaving a pastry shop he had just broken into.
In Thessaloniki, police arrested a 40-year-old man early yesterday morning, who was suspected of being involved in multiple burglaries in the eastern part of the city. Over the past few days, he allegedly committed eleven burglaries, with ten occurring in a single night. The police apprehended him in the act as he was exiting a pastry shop in the Chariou area, from which he had stolen 190 euros and various goods. Additionally, a moped believed to be stolen was seized during the arrest.
The investigations revealed that during the early hours of the previous Sunday, the suspect implicated himself in breaking into ten businesses across the Kato Toumba and Chariou areas, as stated by the Greek Police. A search of his residence yielded clothing worn during the commission of the burglaries, along with electrical appliances and tools, the origin of which is currently being investigated.
This arrest highlights ongoing issues with property crime in Thessaloniki, especially in the eastern neighborhoods, and raises concerns about safety and criminal activity in the region. Local law enforcement continues to bolster their efforts in combating such crimes, increasing patrols and enhancing investigative measures.
