Threats and violence decrease in Sis homes

New statistics show a decrease in violence and threats in Sis homes in Sweden for the third consecutive year, despite an increase in the number of placed children and young people.

Recent statistics from Swedish authorities indicate that both violence and threats within Sis homes have decreased by over seven percent in 2025 compared to the previous year. Additionally, incidents directed towards staff members also saw a decline of three percent. This marks the third consecutive year of reduced incidents, which is particularly noteworthy as the number of children and young people placed in these facilities has increased.

Joakim Righammar, Sis's security director, expressed optimism in the press release, highlighting that despite caring for an increasing number of children and young people who struggle to regulate intense emotions and exhibit challenging behaviors, they are witnessing improved results. This decline in incidents is seen as a positive development as it suggests that the strategies employed are effectively contributing to a safer environment.

The significance of these findings goes beyond just the numbers; they underscore the importance of the ongoing efforts in providing care for vulnerable youth while maintaining safety for both the residents and staff. The continuous improvement in incident statistics offers hope for further advancements in the Sis homes and reflects a commitment to addressing the needs of these children amid rising challenges.
