Uttar Pradesh is set to present its budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 today, where significant announcements regarding startups and infrastructure are anticipated.
Today, the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly will present the budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, marking Finance Minister Suresh Khanna's tenth budget for the state. This budget holds significance as it is the last for the Yogi Adityanath administration before the upcoming assembly elections next year. The budget is expected to exceed 9 lakh crores, aiming to bolster various sectors including infrastructure and support for startups, reflecting the government's focus on economic development and employment generation.
The budget session commenced on February 9, 2026, with Governor Anandiben Patel's address. Following a tribute to departed members of the assembly on February 10, the proceedings were temporarily suspended. Finance Minister Khanna will present the budget to the assembly at 11 AM today, which is anticipated to outline key projects and funding necessary for the state's growth.
Prior to the budget announcement, a cabinet meeting is scheduled under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership at 9 AM. This meeting will finalize budget proposals, discussing crucial projects such as the construction and operation of the Lucknow Metro, the development and allocation of properties by the Ghaziabad Development Authority, and key reports from the public sector enterprises and Ayush departments. These discussions indicate the government's strategic planning to enhance infrastructure and promote a vibrant startup ecosystem within the state.
