Thiago Espírito Santo is set to release his instrumental album 'Ybirá' on February 20, exploring Brazilian musical traditions through jazz influences.
Thiago Espírito Santo, a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist, is preparing to launch his new album titled 'Ybirá' on February 20. The name 'Ybirá' derives from the Tupi-Guarani word for 'tree,' which serves as a central theme throughout the album. This essentially instrumental work was recorded at BRC studio in São Paulo under the guidance of sound engineer Luís Paulo Serafim. The album consists of ten original compositions that draw upon the deep roots of Brazilian musical traditions.
Each track on 'Ybirá' is metaphorically represented as a branch of a tree, symbolizing the intertwining of affective memories and cultural musical inheritance. Espírito Santo incorporates various Brazilian genres such as baião, choro, and jazz, reflecting his diverse influences and improvisational style. The album's tracks, including titles like “Deixa florescer” and “Vamo simbora,” serve to connect listeners to Brazil's rich musical ancestry while showcasing Espírito Santo's versatility on instruments like bass, guitar, and percussion.
As the release date approaches, 'Ybirá' is poised to resonate with audiences not just as a collection of songs, but as an artistic representation of an ongoing heritage and an exploration of Brazilian identity through music. By blending traditional elements with contemporary improvisation, Thiago Espírito Santo aims to create a listening experience that evokes nostalgia and invites exploration of the roots of Brazilian music.
