Owo church massacre: Amotekun officer identifies second defendant as gunman
An Amotekun officer testified in court about identifying one of the gunmen involved in the 2022 Owo church massacre during a confrontation shortly after the attack.
In a significant development in the case surrounding the Owo church massacre that occurred on June 5, 2022, an officer of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, identified the second defendant as one of the attackers during a Federal High Court session in Abuja. The officer recounted engaging in a gun battle with the assailants shortly after the tragic event, which resulted in the deaths of over 40 worshippers at St Francis Catholic Church. The court heard that the officer, using the alias SSG, and his team tracked the fleeing attackers based on information gathered from eyewitnesses in the aftermath of the massacre.
