Petrobras records record oil exports in 2025

Petrobras announced a record high in oil exports for the year 2025, shipping an average of 765,000 barrels per day, marking a 27% increase from the previous year.

Petrobras, Brazil's state-controlled oil company, reported that it achieved record oil exports in 2025, averaging 765,000 barrels per day. This figure reflects a significant 27% increase compared to 2024, and in the final quarter of the year, exports even reached 1 million barrels per day. Such an increase has positioned oil as Brazil's leading export product for the second consecutive year, highlighting the company's growing influence in the global oil market.

The jump in exports can be attributed to a series of production records in the pre-salt region, where Petrobras has focused its drilling efforts. Throughout 2025, Petrobras's oil production saw an 11% rise, reaching 2.3 million barrels per day. When including natural gas production, the total output equated to 2.9 million barrels of oil equivalent. Sylvia Anjos, the company's exploration and production director, emphasized the impressive results despite lower global oil prices, stating that Petrobras exceeded its production goals and demonstrated resilience in its operations.

As a driver of Brazil's economy, particularly in the energy sector, Petrobras's achievements in 2025 underscore its integral role in maintaining Brazil's trade balance. Oil's status as the primary product in Brazil's commercial balance not only reflects Petrobras's operational success but also signals the country's strategic positioning within the international energy marketplace.
