In a police operation conducted by both the Military and Civil police in Lagarto on Tuesday, approximately 30 kilos of illegal drugs, including marijuana and cocaine, were seized. The suspect, who was reportedly in possession of the drugs, attempted to flee during the police approach and was shot. Although he was taken to Hospital Universitário (HU) for treatment, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.

The Military Police reported that the suspect's residence was not only a hiding place for the drugs but also operated as a drug laboratory. This discovery indicates a larger illegal operation at play within the community of Lagarto. In addition to the drugs, law enforcement confiscated a firearm during their operation, showcasing the dangerous nature of the suspect's activities and the potential risks members of the police were facing.

As cities like Lagarto face significant problems with drug trafficking and related violence, this incident highlights the ongoing battle the Brazilian police are engaged in to combat organized crime and protect communities.
