Figure skater Vasiļjevs takes 17th place after the short program
Latvian figure skater Vasiļjevs performed well in the short program, securing a spot in the next round despite the challenges faced by his fellow competitor Kuļišs.
In a recent figure skating competition, 29 athletes competed, with the top 24 advancing to the free skating segment after the short program. Kuļišs, another Latvian skater, had a rocky performance starting with a quadruple jump that resulted in a fall, ultimately finishing in 28th place with a score of 66.86 points, impacted by minor mistakes.
Vasiļjevs competed in the third group and received enthusiastic applause from the audience for his accurate performance, earning a total of 82.44 points, which marked his seasonal best. This strong showing was crucial as it allowed him to qualify for the free program, adding to the excitement for the Latvian contingent at the championship.
