In January of this year, 64 homeless individuals from the Passarela da Cidadania program in Florianópolis achieved employment, predominantly in urban cleaning and waste collection roles. This initiative highlights the program's effectiveness in aiding vulnerable populations to reintegrate into the workforce. The employment opportunities were facilitated by the Central de Trabalho e Oportunidades, which acts as a bridge connecting these individuals to job openings.
The figures from January are significant, representing over one-third of all job placements recorded in 2025, where 141 individuals from the program found employment with the support of Passarela. The Central de Trabalho e Oportunidades not only assists with job placements but also plays a crucial role in preparing beneficiaries for re-entering the formal job market. By offering resume crafting support, forging partnerships with businesses, and coordinating participation in job fairs, the initiative fosters autonomy and social reintegration for its users.
The close collaboration between beneficiaries and the program’s team aims to reduce barriers faced by individuals experiencing homelessness when seeking employment. This success story underscores the importance of targeted employment programs in improving the lives of vulnerable populations while contributing to broader social welfare goals in Florianópolis.
