Orlen Reduces Gas Prices for Households
Orlen has announced a reduction in natural gas prices for households, effective from February 25 to June 30, 2023.
The President of the Energy Regulatory Office in Poland has approved a change in the tariff for natural gas sales by myOrlen, previously known as PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny, which is part of the Orlen Group. Starting from February 25 until June 30, 2023, the price of gas for households will decrease by 3.4%, leading to a new rate of 197.29 zł per megawatt-hour. This reduction translates to a decrease of approximately 7 zł compared to the previous price.
The new pricing will also apply to certain categories of consumers engaged in public utility tasks, including hospitals, schools, nurseries, and kindergartens. While the gas price itself will be lower, the overall bill (considering other charges) will decrease by a smaller percentage than the gas price reduction itself, as subscription fees remain unchanged. The Energy Regulatory Office continues to monitor market prices and take necessary actions to ensure fair pricing for consumers.
This adjustment in gas pricing reflects ongoing regulatory efforts to manage energy costs for Polish households amid a fluctuating energy market. The significance of this price change is underscored by the challenges consumers face due to global energy supply issues, and it aims to alleviate some financial burdens during this period. The decision may have broader implications for energy consumption patterns and affordability in the residential sector as it aligns with regulatory oversight intended to protect consumer interests.
