In a remarkable musical event, Estonian composer Rein Rannap has unveiled a new version of his cantata specifically tailored for the Pärnu choir. The cantata, which was performed in its entirety for the first time, received an enthusiastic response from the choir members, showcasing both the excitement and pride of the performers. After a stellar 25-minute performance, applause and laughter filled the room, highlighting the positive atmosphere surrounding the event.

Conductor Kadri Keskküla, who is part of the Püüa Päeva choir, expressed the need to find a captivating project for the upcoming season, especially since there wasn't a significant choral festival on the horizon. This search led to the rediscovery of Rannap's cantata "Ilus maa," which he had composed in a brief burst of creativity during the spring of 1982. The cantata brings together ten melodies that are deeply inspired by the poetry of Runneli, and Rannap’s intention was to create a rock-inspired cantata that resonates with contemporary audiences.

The decision to present this new version of the cantata has not only rejuvenated interest in Rannap's work but has also set the stage for future performances as the choir and Rannap prepare for the 2025 general song festival.
