FG kicks off food support for 20,000 vulnerable households in Sokoto
The Nigerian Federal Government has initiated a food support program for 20,000 vulnerable households in Sokoto State to address hunger and malnutrition.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced a food assistance program aimed at supporting 20,000 vulnerable households in Sokoto State. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to tackle issues of hunger, malnutrition, and poverty particularly prevalent in northern Nigeria. The program was launched by Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who emphasized the collaborative efforts between the federal government, the Sokoto State Government, and various development partners.
At the launch, which took place in Sokoto, Minister Sununu praised the commitment of Governor Ahmed Aliyu towards humanitarian efforts. The minister highlighted that the governorβs presence at the event, despite having family obligations overseas, showcased responsible leadership and a dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable populations. The initiative aims to reach the most at-risk groups, including women, children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities, indicating a holistic approach to welfare.
