On the morning of Tuesday, the 10th, two landslides occurred on the downhill lane of Serra das Araras in Piraí, Rio de Janeiro, leading to temporary road closures on the Via Dutra. The first landslide was reported around 6:43 AM at kilometer 229, causing a complete halt to traffic for several minutes, but the road was cleared shortly after.

A second landslide occurred at 8:45 AM at kilometer 224, also affecting the lane heading towards Rio de Janeiro. Cleaning crews from CCR RioSP, the highway concessionaire, worked promptly to remove debris from the roadway, and the lane was fully reopened by 11 AM. As a result of these incidents, the Federal Highway Police reported that traffic congestion extended over 15 kilometers due to the closures, impacting commuters significantly.

Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or vehicles being struck by falling debris during these occurrences, but the events underscore the importance of road maintenance and monitoring in areas prone to landslides.
