Senator partners US group to revive Southern Kaduna hospitals
A Nigerian senator collaborates with a U.S. humanitarian organization to assess and improve healthcare facilities in Southern Kaduna.
Senator Sunday Katung, who represents the Kaduna South Senatorial District in Nigeria, has partnered with Project C.U.R.E., a U.S.-based humanitarian organization, to conduct on-the-spot assessments of selected public health facilities in Southern Kaduna. The assessment team, led by Rose Polycarp, a registered nurse in the U.S., is evaluating healthcare infrastructure and service delivery across various hospitals in the region, including visits to Kagarko General Hospital, Kachia General Hospital, and General Hospital, Gwantu, among others.
Katung emphasized the importance of these assessments, stating that they are essential for understanding the current state of healthcare facilities and identifying critical areas that require urgent interventions. This initiative comes at a time when the healthcare system in Southern Kaduna has faced numerous challenges, making it imperative to evaluate and improve the available healthcare services to better serve the local population.
The move reflects a broader commitment to enhance public health in Nigeria, particularly in underserved regions like Southern Kaduna, which have struggled with inadequate healthcare infrastructure. By collaborating with international organizations like Project C.U.R.E., local leaders aim to bring attention to these issues and encourage the necessary support for revitalizing health services in their communities.
