Damage of 40 million zł. Former presidents of GetBack S.A. face another indictment

Two former presidents of GetBack S.A. and other key figures are facing charges related to fraudulent contracts that resulted in significant financial losses for the company.

The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw has announced charges against two former presidents of GetBack S.A., Konrad K. and Paweł T., alongside former representative Karolina P., a former bailiff, Rafał W., and four other individuals. The indictment claims that between 2016 and 2017, the defendants collaborated to execute a series of contracts with various detective firms, debt collection agencies, and companies that create debtor databases. Despite failing to fulfill these contracts or executing them poorly, they paid the companies significant amounts that led to financial damages exceeding 40 million zł for GetBack S.A.

Prosecutor Mateusz Martyniuk elaborated that the wrongful payments were made without services being performed as stipulated in the contracts, raising serious ethical and legal concerns regarding the management of GetBack S.A. These actions have led to one of the largest economic scandals in Poland, prompting investigations into the corporate conduct of individuals in high positions. The case not only highlights issues of corporate governance but reflects broader implications for investor confidence in the Polish market.

Further complicating the situation, the same individuals were implicated in licensing agreements that involved the trademark of GetBack in 2026, suggesting a potential ongoing pattern of misconduct. With significant political figures from the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) also potentially facing scrutiny in relation to this scandal, it brings a critical lens to the intersection of politics and business in Poland, raising questions about accountability and regulatory oversight in the financial sector.
