Kuopio's new electronic music event is inspired by Europe's largest techno festivals
A new electronic music festival, Electric Sunsets by Genelec, will take place in Kuopio at the end of August, drawing inspiration from major techno festivals across Europe.
The Electric Sunsets by Genelec festival, set to occur at the end of August in the Kuopio harbor area, aims to deliver a unique blend of electronic music, visual art, and storytelling. This three-day event is inspired by the vast array of electronic music festivals that take place around the world, showcasing a commitment to an innovative and immersive festival experience.
Tatu Säisä, the CEO of Target Events and the mind behind this festival, has been contemplating this idea for some time. With previous experience in event organization, notably with the Osuma Sunsets festival, Säisä brings a wealth of knowledge to this new project. He is also recognized for his past as a professional volleyball player, adding a unique dimension to his event management pedigree. The festival is also supported by Mico Lonka, a young but experienced event organizer who has been active in Kuopio’s event scene for many years.
A central aspect of the festival is its narrative-driven approach, led by the digital artist Suru Bae, whose storyline will unfold throughout the year, continuing beyond the physical event. This method aims to connect with the audience emotionally, enhancing their overall experience. The festival organizers aspire to not only entertain but also to create a lasting impact on the attendees, emphasizing the emotional connections formed through the arts within the nightlife and music scene of Kuopio.
