TODAY LIVE | Kulbin and Kehva make Olympic debuts in long distance
Today, Estonian biathletes Kulbin and Kehva are set to make their Olympic debuts during the men's 20 km traditional distance race at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
The men's 20 km traditional distance race is scheduled for today, and it marks the second event in the biathlon program of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. Four Estonian athletes, including newcomers Jakob Kulbin and Mark-Markos Kehva, will compete. The live broadcast by ETV and ERR's sports portal starts at 14:25 and will feature commentary from Tarmo Tiisler and Karel Kulbin, with reporter Ivar Lepik covering the event.
The Estonian biathlon team faced a challenging start at the Olympics, as they secured a disappointing 15th place in the mixed relay event. Despite performing well in shooting, the athletes struggled with skiing speed, which highlighted areas needing improvement. The team is optimistic that athletes Rene Zahkna and Kristo Siimer can enhance their performance in today's individual race after their earlier setback.
This 20 km race is the only long-distance event the team has competed in during the current World Cup season, having participated in this format only once, at the Γstersund season opener. The anticipation builds as the athletes prepare for their individual numbers on the course, with notable expectations for Kulbin and Kehva as they embark on their Olympic journeys.
