Ikea recalls wall lamp - risk of electric shock

Ikea is recalling its Nymåne wall lamps due to a risk of electric shock associated with a production defect.

Ikea has announced a recall of its Nymåne wall lamps due to safety concerns of electric shock resulting from inadequate insulation of the lamp's wiring. The company has urged customers who own these affected lamps to cease their use immediately and contact Ikea for a full refund. This recall is part of Ikea's commitment to consumer safety and reflects the company's proactive approach to addressing potential hazards at the manufacturing level.

The recalled products include models in white and anthracite gray, as well as a double version in white. Customers can identify the affected lamps by checking the date marking and supplier number located on the product. Specifically, the affected products have date markings from 2217 to 2550 and supplier number 23241. Customers are advised to inspect a sticker located inside the lampshade for the read lamp and on the back of the wall lamp for the wall model to confirm whether their items are included in the recall.

This safety alert underscores the importance of product safety standards in consumer goods, particularly in electrical items that pose risks of injury. As Ikea moves to rectify this issue by communicating directly with purchasers and providing refunds, the incident serves as a reminder for consumers to stay informed about product safety recalls to avoid potential incidents.
