Prosecutor Demands 18 Years and 6 Months in Ļubka's Murder Case
A prosecutor has requested a sentence of 18 years and 6 months for the accused in the murder case of businessman Andris Ļubka.
In Daugavpils, at the Latgale District Court, a significant decision is expected today regarding the murder case of businessman and politician Andris Ļubka. Prosecutor has called for a sentence of 18 years and 6 months for the defendant, Igor Hait, along with three years of probation following his release. Alongside the prison sentence, the prosecutor is also seeking the return of the car involved in the crime, valued at 5600 euros, and a claim of 3100 euros for state compensation given to the victims by the State Judicial Administration.
In addition to the direct consequences of the murder, the prosecutor has requested that a claim for compensatory damages filed by the victims be approved, asking for 100,000 euros for moral damages and 4953 euros for reimbursement of legal fees related to the case. The accused, Igor Hait, born in 1975, faces serious charges that include murder in aggravating circumstances and unlawful possession of a firearm. The maximum penalty for murder under aggravating circumstances in Latvia is life imprisonment, reflecting the severity of the situation.
