"We Produce Here": Applications Open for 50% Subsidy for Businesses - Who Gets What and How Much

Applications are set to open for the 'We Produce Here' program, offering a 50% subsidy to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Greece.

In the coming days, applications will be launched for the "We Produce Here" program, designed to assist micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in the processing sector and related fields, where domestic supply fails to meet demand. The initiative has a budget of €200 million and aims to subsidize between 5,000 and 6,000 companies, with potential for expansion if interest rises. For example, a business looking to implement an investment plan of €180,000 could receive a subsidy of €90,000.

Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikolaos Papathanasis, highlighted that businesses will have the option to cover the remaining costs either partially or fully with a loan from the Hellenic Development Bank, which offers a 40% interest rate subsidy. This program specifically targets businesses that have completed at least one financial year of operations, aiming to strengthen the domestic economy by enhancing local production capabilities in light of stalled supplies.

The "We Produce Here" program reflects the Greek government's efforts to bolster local industry by encouraging investment in areas where local supply is insufficient to fulfill demand. Moreover, it signals an initiative to stimulate economic growth, particularly after the challenges posed by the pandemic, supporting the growth of entrepreneurial ventures and ensuring that more products can be sourced domestically, directly benefitting the local economy and job market.
