NEPZA pitches Nigeria free zones to EU partners

The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) is urging the European Union to incorporate Nigeria’s Special Economic Zones into their value chains to enhance trade relations and economic growth.

The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) has appealed to the European Union to integrate Nigeria’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs) into European value chains. This initiative aims to promote economic growth and enhance trade relations between Nigeria and EU countries. During a trade and investment meeting held at the European House in Abuja, NEPZA’s Managing Director, Olufemi Ogunyemi, addressed European ambassadors and representatives from the EU, emphasizing the importance of collaboration amidst global economic shifts.

Ogunyemi highlighted that Nigeria's Free Trade Zones could act as key facilitators for increased economic cooperation between Europe and Africa. He noted that these zones are strategically positioned to leverage the changing dynamics of global trade and offer robust opportunities for investment. By enhancing partnerships with EU nations, Nigeria aims to bolster industrialization and provide a platform for mutual benefits in trade, investment, and economic development.

This appeal comes at a pivotal moment as the global economy undergoes significant adjustments, prompting countries to reevaluate their economic strategies. NEPZA's initiative, if successful, could lead to strengthened economic ties between Nigeria and EU partners, fostering greater collaboration on various fronts and potentially transforming Nigeria's economic landscape through increased industrial activity and job creation.
