The official opening of the Carnival 2026 season in Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro, was celebrated with the election of the Carnival Court and the 55th Municipal Costume Contest. This event, held at the Human Promotion Group (GPH) in the Cônego neighborhood, was organized by the Independent Samba Schools League of Nova Friburgo in collaboration with the Municipal Tourism Secretariat, drawing a crowd of samba enthusiasts, revelers, and local associations.

A significant highlight of the ceremony was a tribute to Jadler Silva, a key figure in the local carnival scene, recognized for her longstanding contributions to organizing the Municipal Costume Contest.
