VIDEO: children jump out of moving car after releasing handbrake during play, in PR

Two six-year-old boys jumped out of a moving car in Brazil after one of them released the handbrake during a game.

A security camera captured the alarming moment when six-year-old twins Benjamim and Joaquim leaped from a moving vehicle in Francisco Beltrão, located in the southwestern region of Paraná, Brazil. The incident transpired on January 17 when their father, Willian Furlan, momentarily left them in the parked car to retrieve an item from a nearby shed. While the children were listening to music inside the vehicle, one of them inadvertently released the handbrake, causing the car to begin rolling down a slight incline.

The footage reveals the driver’s side door still open as the vehicle picks up momentum. In a split-second reaction, Benjamim is seen jumping out first, attempting to halt the car's movement while shouting for help. Following closely, Joaquim also exits the vehicle, both boys managing to escape without sustaining any injuries. Their father expressed relief that the situation did not turn more serious, emphasizing how quickly accidents can happen, especially with young children.

This incident serves as a sobering reminder for parents about the importance of ensuring vehicle safety, even when parked. The Furlan family's experience highlights the risks associated with children playing in or around unattended vehicles, and it underscores the need for vigilant supervision to prevent potentially tragic outcomes.
