Traffic in Barra do Piraí undergoes changes for Carnival

Barra do Piraí's city hall has announced traffic diversions to accommodate Carnival festivities, starting from February 9.

With Carnival festivities approaching, the city government of Barra do Piraí, Rio de Janeiro, has issued a notice regarding temporary traffic changes in the region. Effective from February 9, specific routes will be closed to facilitate the celebrations, beginning with an interlude at 9 PM on the announcement day. On the following Friday and Thursday, road closures will commence at specified evening times, leading to an organized re-routing of traffic.

During the Carnival period from February 14 to 17, downtown traffic will be restricted beginning nightly at 8 PM. To manage the influx of participants and maintain public safety, vehicles exiting the city center will be directed to use Rua Aureliano Garcia, known colloquially as Rua da Estação. Meanwhile, arrivals will be instructed to approach via Rua Capitão Mario Novais. These measures aim to streamline transportation and reduce congestion during one of Brazil's most anticipated festive seasons.

Additionally, an alternative route will remain accessible throughout the closures; the newly opened bridge on Rua Governador Portela will allow traffic moving towards Praça Oliveira Figueiredo. This effort highlights the city's proactive approach to maintaining traffic flow while ensuring visitor safety and enjoyment during the lively Carnival celebrations, which draw large crowds and significantly impact local transportation systems.
