Suspect of murdering a man in SP is arrested in Mato Grosso do Sul

A 22-year-old suspect wanted for homicide in Dracena, SP, was arrested in Três Lagoas, MS, while also being charged for drug possession.

A 22-year-old man suspected of committing a qualified homicide two months ago in Dracena, São Paulo, has been arrested in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The arrest was carried out by the Civil Police after a preventive arrest warrant was issued. The suspect had been in custody since January 10 in Três Lagoas and was apprehended during a police operation following investigations by specialized units from the Dracena Civil Police.

The investigators revealed that the suspect fled Dracena shortly after committing the crime. He was detained in MS as part of an operation that involved the Delegacia de Investigações Gerais (DIG) and the Delegacia de Investigações Sobre Entorpecentes (DISE). During his arrest, the suspect admitted to having drugs stored at the residence where he was found, leading to the discovery of three kilograms of marijuana during a search of the premises.

This case highlights ongoing efforts by police in Brazil to track down fugitives and combat drug-related crime, particularly in regions where such crimes may be interconnected. The successful apprehension of this suspect in a different state underlines the collaborative nature of law enforcement agencies in Brazil, who rely on each other's efforts to ensure those accused of violent crimes face justice.
