City Council in TO has only one effective employee and has not held a contest since 1999, says MP
The Municipal Chamber of Alvorada has only one permanent employee and has not conducted a public contest since 1999, prompting the Public Ministry to recommend a new contest within 180 days.
The Public Ministry of Tocantins has issued a recommendation for the Municipal Chamber of Alvorada to hold a public contest within 180 days due to its inadequate staffing situation. According to their findings, the last public contest was held back in 1999, and now among the 40 employees, there is only one with effective employment status. This alarming situation raises concerns over the operational capacity of the Municipal Chamber in fulfilling its duties adequately.
The investigation leading to this recommendation was based on a technical report from the State Court of Accounts, which analyzed budgetary, financial, and functional data from the cityβs legislative body. This report indicates significant shortcomings in the staffing and functional structure of the Chamber, which may impact its governance and service delivery to the citizens of Alvorada.
In response to the recommendation, the Municipal Chamber of Alvorada acknowledged awareness of the situation and expressed its intention to conduct the public contest. They are currently engaged in internal studies related to administrative, financial, and budgetary aspects to determine the appropriate methods and timing for implementing the necessary actions, while ensuring compliance with current legislation and fiscal responsibility.
