Toma and Mulato Teatro join to bring artistic initiative to children in Tlaltizapán
A new program aimed at enhancing theater, literacy, and civic values for children in Tlaltizapán has been launched by Toma and Mulato Teatro associations.
On February 9, the third phase of the program "Planting Theater and Letters for Peace" commenced, a collaborative initiative by the civil associations Toma and Mulato Teatro. This program is designed to develop skills in literacy and the arts while promoting enjoyment of theater and reinforcing subjects such as ethics, civics, history, indigenous cultures, and literature among children in Tlaltizapán, Morelos. The program was established through the efforts of scenic director and educator Marisol Castillo, and playwright and journalist Jaime Chabaud, with support from the Editorial PasodeGato. It aims to benefit 1,600 children in the fifth and sixth grades from Educational Zones 26 and 50 in Tlaltizapán, providing them with creative opportunities that hope to foster a sense of community and cultural appreciation. Activities began in December 2025, featuring induction workshops for teachers, which included readings of the play "Tilicos y Flacos" by Ismael Rojas. The initiative highlights the importance of arts education and its potential to support civic engagement and cultural development in the region, reflective of a growing trend in incorporating the arts into educational curriculums across Mexico.
