Penal police officers suffer car accident on BR-135 while heading to work
Two penal police officers were involved in a car accident on the BR-135 highway while traveling to their shift in Corinto, Brazil.
Two penal police officers experienced a car accident on the BR-135 highway, en route from Buenópolis to Corinto on Monday, September 9. According to reports from the Military Highway Police (PMRv), the passenger, aged 32, stated that they were heading to work when the driver lost control of the vehicle on a curve and crashed into the metal guardrail near km 558. The weather conditions at the time included heavy rainfall, which likely contributed to the accident.
The driver, aged 39, received assistance from the road concessionaire and was taken to Imaculada Conceição Hospital in Curvelo. He was conscious and sustained only minor injuries. A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver, which returned a negative result for alcohol consumption, indicating he was not under the influence at the time of the crash.
Although the Police Civil investigation team was notified, they did not arrive at the scene of the accident. Fortunately, the passenger was unharmed, but the incident raises concerns about road safety for law enforcement personnel as they traverse potentially hazardous conditions on their way to duty.
