Are you taking the subway during carnival? See special schedules for the Saturday of Galo da Madrugada and other days of the festivities

The Recife Metro has announced special operating hours during the carnival season, particularly for the Galo da Madrugada event, helping revelers get to the festivities safely.

As the carnival season approaches, the Recife Metro is preparing to accommodate the large influx of participants at the annual Galo da Madrugada parade, scheduled for Saturday, February 14. The Companhia Brasileira de Trens Urbanos (CBTU) has released adapted schedules for the metro services to assist attendees. On the day of the event, the South Line of the Recife Metro will be closed, but the Center Line will operate on a special schedule to ensure smooth transportation for carnival-goers. Specifically, the Recife, Joana Bezerra, and Afogados stations will be open from 5 AM to 11 PM, while other stations on the Center Line will only allow disembarkation from 1 PM onwards after initially opening at 5 AM.

The CBTU has also detailed the ticketing arrangements for that day. Special tickets will be available at the stations of Recife, Joana Bezerra, and Afogados specifically for the Galo da Madrugada event, promoting easier access for attendees. It’s important to note that payment methods will be limited, as no payments will be accepted at the stations from certain times, encouraging attendees to plan their travel accordingly.

This initiative reflects the city's efforts to enhance the carnival experience, ensuring that participants can enjoy the celebrations without the stress of transportation logistics. With the addition of special schedules and ticketing measures, the city of Recife aims to make the journey to one of Brazil's biggest carnival events as seamless as possible, reinforcing its commitment to public transport accessibility during peak times.
