During a recent visit to Armenia, US Vice President JD Vance announced that the United States will invest 9 billion dollars into the country's nuclear energy sector. This investment comes as a result of the completion of negotiations regarding a civil nuclear cooperation agreement, which aims to facilitate contracts between American and Armenian businesses in nuclear energy projects. According to Vance, this deal could translate to up to 5 billion dollars in initial exports from the US, alongside an additional 4 billion dollars aimed at long-term support through fuel and service contracts.

The announcement occurs at a pivotal moment, as Russia's influence in the region has waned following its invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Vance’s visit and the accompanying investment highlight the shifting geopolitical landscape and America’s growing interest in strengthening ties with Armenia.
