Teen who disappeared in river after going out to play soccer is found dead on the coast of SP
A 15-year-old boy, Pablo Henrico Gonzaga Lucas, was found dead after going missing while playing soccer and later swimming in a river in Brazil.
Pablo Henrico Gonzaga Lucas, a 15-year-old adolescent, was discovered deceased in Santos, São Paulo, on Monday, October 9. The young boy had gone missing after he and friends played soccer, followed by entering the nearby river at Monte Cabrão for a swim. Unfortunately, while trying to enjoy a leisurely day, Pablo was caught in a current and submerged, leading to a dire search effort.
The search for Pablo began on Sunday, October 8, when the Corpo de Bombeiros (Fire Department) was alerted around 4:15 PM that he had not returned from the river. The operation involved the Grupamento de Bombeiros Marítimo (GBMar), focusing their efforts on locating the teenager. Reports indicate that out of the three teens who entered the river, only two managed to make it back to safety, highlighting the dangers present in recreational waters.
Pablo's body was ultimately found around 11 AM on the following Monday, underscoring the tragic outcome of the situation. The circumstances of this incident have prompted discussions about water safety and the necessity of precautions when youth engage in swimming and recreational activities near rivers. This incident serves as a somber reminder of the unpredictable nature of waterways and the importance of vigilance among young individuals and their guardians.
