Massive Donation from Finnish Athlete
Finnish ski jumper Niko Kytösaho donates nearly all his used jumping suits to his home club, helping young athletes.
Finnish ski jumper Niko Kytösaho has made a significant gesture by donating around 40 used jumping suits, which he estimates could sell for about 200 euros each, amounting to a total loss of 8,000 euros in potential revenue. Despite the financial loss this entails, Kytösaho, who is only 26 years old, emphasizes that he never considered asking for money in return. Instead, he wishes to show gratitude towards Paimion Urheilijat, the local sports club that has supported him throughout his career.
Kytösaho, originally from Varsinais-Suomi, speaks warmly about his desire to help young athletes, stating that he understands the excitement these youngsters feel when they receive his old suits. His intention is not only to support the club financially but also to foster passion and motivation among the junior members. Kytösaho's perspective highlights the importance of community and mentorship in sports, showcasing how successful athletes can give back to their roots.
His name first came into the spotlight during the 2014-2015 season when he dominated the Youth Olympic Festival, surpassing even the current world number one jumper, Domen Prevc, by 27 points. This background underscores Kytösaho's talent and ambition, as he believes he has the potential to be the best in the world, reflecting both his confidence and the high expectations that come with his early success in competitive ski jumping.
