Employee arrested on suspicion of stealing over R$ 120,000 from restaurant in Bahia
An employee was arrested in Santa Bárbara, Bahia, after being suspected of stealing over R$ 120,000 from a restaurant using unauthorized card machines.
An employee working at a restaurant located alongside BR-116 in Santa Bárbara, Bahia, was arrested on Sunday afternoon, October 8, on suspicion of theft. According to the Civil Police, the loss to the restaurant exceeds R$ 120,000. This situation arose after the restaurant's owner filed a police report regarding the incident.
The investigations revealed that the suspect, who has not yet been identified, was diverting customer payments by utilizing two card machines that did not belong to the restaurant. During the arrest, the Civil Police found these machines in the suspect's possession, further substantiating the allegations of theft. This operation was conducted by investigative teams from the police departments in Santa Bárbara and Serrinha, alongside the Tactical Support Group for Investigation (Gatti/Sisal).
Following his arrest, the suspect was taken to the Territorial Delegation (DT) of Serrinha, where he will face legal proceedings. The incident highlights the growing concern over internal theft in restaurants and the need for stronger safeguards against such fraudulent activities in the hospitality sector.
