Pole and Brazilian arrested at Brasilia airport suspected of trying to take cocaine to Europe

A Polish man and a Brazilian were arrested at Brasilia Airport while attempting to smuggle approximately 13.57 kg of cocaine to Europe.

On Sunday, a Polish man aged 40 and a Brazilian man aged 46 were arrested at Brasilia Airport, suspected of intent to smuggle cocaine into Europe. The Federal Revenue Service of Brazil confiscated about 13.57 kg of the drug, which was concealed in false compartments of their backpacks. Following the discovery, the suspects were transferred to the Federal Police, who initiated an investigation into the matter.

The drug seizures occurred during two separate operations aimed at inspecting luggage. The identities of the suspects have not been disclosed, but in the first instance, the Polish national was found carrying around 4.52 kg of cocaine hidden in a false compartment of his laptop backpack. In the second operation, the Brazilian was apprehended with approximately 9.05 kg of the drug, also concealed within a false compartment in his backpack.

This incident raises concerns about international drug trafficking routes and the methods used by traffickers to elude detection. The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of Brazilian authorities to combat drug smuggling, particularly in major transit points like Brasilia Airport. As the investigation unfolds, more details may emerge regarding the broader networks involved in such illegal activities.
