HJK makes a strong player acquisition

HJK's men's football team has signed 23-year-old Danish forward Mads Borchers on loan from German club Ingolstadt, with an option to buy.

HJK, the men's football team based in Helsinki, has successfully acquired 23-year-old Danish striker Mads Borchers from the German club Ingolstadt. This acquisition comes as a part of a loan agreement that extends until the end of July, which includes an option for the Finnish club to purchase him outright after the loan period. He stands at 188 centimeters tall and is expected to make a significant impact on the squad.

Borchers has previously played for Vaasan Palloseura in Finland, where he made an impressive mark by scoring ten goals in 16 matches during the 2024 Veikkausliiga season. His performance was particularly strong at the beginning of the last season as well, where he netted five goals in six matches. The goal-scoring prowess he exhibited in Vaasa is a significant factor that HJK hopes will translate into performance on their roster.

Petri Vuorinen, HJK's sports director, expressed confidence in Borchers's talents, stating, "Mads knows the Veikkausliiga, and we know him. He is an ambitious competitor and a professional. We see him as bringing a different option to our attack on the pitch. He is good at protecting the ball and is strong in the box." This move signifies HJK's ambition to strengthen its attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming competitions in the league.
