Maruti Suzuki has set a new record in 2025 by dispatching over 585,000 vehicles via rail, marking an 18% increase from 2024.
Maruti Suzuki has achieved a significant milestone in vehicle logistics by dispatching more than 585,000 cars through rail transport in 2025, which is the highest rail dispatch figure ever recorded. This represents an 18% increase compared to the previous year, reflecting the growing importance of railways in the company's logistics system. As a result, approximately 26% of all Maruti vehicles are now sent via rail, a notable rise from just 5.1% in 2016.
Over the past decade, the number of vehicles dispatched by rail has increased more than sevenfold, soaring from about 77,000 units in 2016 to over 585,000 in 2025. This dramatic increase highlights the effectiveness and efficiency of using rail transport as part of Maruti's supply chain strategy. The data indicates a strong trend towards sustainable logistics practices that align with environmental initiatives.
According to the company, this increased reliance on rail transport has significantly reduced carbon emissions, preventing approximately 88,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions in 2025. Furthermore, it has saved around 6.8 crore liters of fuel. These achievements underline Maruti Suzuki's commitment to enhancing its logistics capabilities while also reducing its environmental footprint, setting a benchmark for sustainable practices in the automotive industry.
