Ice, Snow, and Asphalt: Who Were the Fastest at the Winter Cup of the Lithuanian Karting Federation?
The Lithuanian Karting Federation's Winter Cup successfully took place in true winter conditions, delighting drivers and spectators alike with unique racing challenges across three events.
Every year, at the beginning of the year, the Lithuanian Karting Federation organizes the "Winter Cup" races after one season has ended and before another begins. In recent years, winter weather in the country has been inconsistent, often foregoing the cold for muddy conditions. However, this year brought a significant snow cover that provided karting athletes with a genuine winter racing experience. Nearly fifty racers gathered despite the freezing temperatures, showing their resilience and passion for the sport.
The races took place over three weekends: from January 10-11 on loose snow at the Anykščiai kartodrome, from January 24-25 on an icy but cleared asphalt track at Plytinė, and concluded from February 7-8 with graceful racing on the icy curves of the Speedway kartodrome near Elektrėnai. Participants expressed their enjoyment of the event, highlighting how the snowy and icy conditions varied with each stage, adding a unique challenge that made the competition thrilling.
The successful turnout and vibrant atmosphere at this year's races demonstrated the growing popularity of karting in Lithuania, as well as the community's appreciation for true winter racing. Drivers and fans alike expressed their eagerness for future events, indicating a robust interest in continuing the Winter Cup tradition and enhancing the profile of karting as a sport in the region.
