WATCH LIVE | New ski area makes its Olympic debut

A new ski area is debuting at the Olympics with a live broadcast of team events in alpine skiing scheduled for today.

Today at 11:25 AM, ERR and ETV2 will broadcast live coverage of the team event's speed competition in alpine skiing at the Milano Cortina Olympics. Following this, a slalom event will be broadcasted at 14:55. Notably, this marks the first time a team competition will be featured in the Olympics, where each team comprises one speed skier and one slalom skier, and their times are combined for a final score. Last year, Swiss skiers Franjo von Allmen and Loic Meillard won first place at the World Championships.

In this Olympic event, both Allmen and Meillard are back in action, paired with different partners: Allmen will race alongside fresh Olympic champion Tanguy Nef in slalom, while Meillard teams up with Marco Odermatt, the current leader of the World Cup series. A total of 21 pairs will compete, showcasing strong contenders including Olympic silver medalist Giovanni Franzoni with Alex Vinatzer, and bronze medalist Dominik Paris with Tommaso Sala. Norwegian hopes rest heavily on the duo of Adrian Smiseth and Atle Lie McGrath, who are looking to make a significant impact in this new format.

The introduction of this team competition to the Olympic Games not only adds excitement and a fresh dynamic to alpine skiing but also reflects the evolving nature of the sport. Fans can anticipate a thrilling showcase of skill and teamwork as athletes navigate the slopes and chase gold in this unprecedented event.
