UP: Sister-in-law upset with brother-in-law's wedding committed suicide before the procession
A woman in Uttar Pradesh committed suicide the day before her brother-in-law's wedding, leading to a tragic atmosphere in her family.
In a distressing incident from Ahiberanpur village in Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh, a woman named Pushpa Devi took her own life by hanging herself just one day before her brother-in-law's wedding. The impending marriage was reportedly a source of dissatisfaction for her, which her husband, Sher Singh, attributed to her resentment towards the arrangement. This tragedy has transformed what was supposed to be a joyful occasion into mourning for the family.
Sher Singh revealed that his wife had previously been involved in a close relationship with her younger brother-in-law, leading to tensions within the family. In an effort to alleviate the situation, Singh had sent his brother away to avoid further complications. Despite having two children, ages ten and seven, Pushpa's continued interaction with her brother-in-law contributed to increasing family strife. This complex emotional backdrop suggests deeper issues that influenced her drastic action.
The situation escalated when the brother-in-law returned to the village for the wedding preparations. Following a confrontation between Pushpa and him, which was reportedly heated, she retreated to their room and subsequently ended her life. This incident not only highlights individual family struggles but also casts a light on broader social issues related to mental health and familial pressures surrounding marriage in traditional settings.
